Virtual Choir project

Melissa will sing the first two pages and we'll have choir on the third and fourth pages. Here's how you'll need to record your part (using a computer):

Instructions:

If you're using Windows 10, "Camera" is a built in app you can use to record audio and video. If you're using OSX, Quicktime will record audio and video.

If you have a microphone around or a headset with a mic, it's likely better than your built in mic on your laptop. Try to use that. If it's a hassle, forget it.

You'll need to use earphones with the prerecorded track so that only your voice it picked up by the mic. I'd suggest playing the recording on a phone or second computer.

You'll need to find a way to view your music while doing all this. A printer is ideal, though you might be able to find some screen space for the score.

I was unsuccessful getting dynamics on the recording. Note: we start at mp on page 3. There's a crescendo and diminuendo on page 4.

The recording starts four measures before your entrance on the top of page 3, giving you both your pitch and clicks for tempo. All parts are played, though your part is emphasized.

Please sing the first word, Jesu, as "YehSoo".

If you are able, please speak a crisp "tee" on beat one on at least one of the four measures before you start.

I'd strongly suggest spending a bit of time thoroughly learning the music so that you can create a recording that you're pleased with in the first dozen attempts. I deliberately chose something short for our first attempt.

Feel free to share this with anyone and invite them to participate as well! Feel free to sing multiple parts and send each to me. Feel free to make multiple recordings of a single part to send to me.

If this goes well (and the prohibition of gathering continues for long enough), we'll do this again and I'll invite the entire congregation to participate. (Even though I'm not broadly publicizing this for our first attempt, all are welcome to participate.)

The goal is to to have all recordings back to me by April 30, though I can likely give you an extra day or two if you're running behind and let me know.
